Just like with any new, slightly controversial subject, there will always be pros and cons to talk about – and that’s no different with the new drive toward the use of alternative fuels to power our vehicles. People who talk about the pros of alternative fuels could list a hundred ways that alternative fuel is beneficial; on the other hands those who supports the arguments against alternative fuels could also list a hundred reasons we should not use alternative fuels.
The Pros of Alternative Fuels
Global warming and higher oil prices are two of many reasons why more people are think about alternative fuels but will the greater population put those thoughts into actions in the near future?
Environmental Considerations – Alternative fuel is cleaner burning than gasoline; this makes it is better for the environment. As we are confronted with many environmental problems these days such as global warming, many people feel we really need to take a moment and realize that it’s up to us to help stop these problems. When you use an alternative fuel in your car instead of gasoline, you are helping to stop the release of counter-productive elements into the air.
Better Fuel Mileage – Many alternative fuel vehicles also get better fuel mileage which is another pro over con in the use of alternative fuels. Especially in hybrid vehicles, miles per gallon can be increased by more than 20 percent over a period of time! That can make a world of difference to many drivers.
Tax Incentives – There are many tax incentives that can be found when you buy and use an alternative fuel vehicle. The government knows that there are pros and cons to the use of alternative fuel, so they want to make it as attractive as possible to the consumer to make the switch. Who doesn’t want to save money on their taxes? If you can get a tax break, it can greatly benefit you and you’ll be helping the Earth as well.
Arguments Against Alternative Fuels
The arguments against alternative fuels may not be as numerous as the pros of alternative fuels, bit in the mind of the consumer the problems can seem a bit bigger.
Higher Costs – Alternative fuel vehicles are often more expensive than regular gasoline vehicles. Even though you can get a tax break for buying one of these vehicles, you can still expect to pay anywhere from 10 to 40 percent more retail price for an alternative fuel vehicle.
Limited Availability – Limited availability of alternative fuels is another huge con to offset the pros. While many places now carry E85 fuel (85 percent ethanol, 15 percent gasoline), it may be difficult to find other alternative fuel types. Even the stations that do carry E85 aren’t as plentiful as many people would hope and they often find themselves driving out of their way just to “gas” up their cars.
The arguments for and against using alternative fuels can forever be debated. Whether you’re in the camp supporting the pros of alternative fuels or you are amongst the group shouting the arguments against alternative fuels depends on your commitment to our environment and what you can do to stop some of the deadly effects of the gases we release from our vehicles.
Biofuels are also a green energy source. It has been around for a very long time and lately, people are beginning to take notice.
Liquid biofuel which is the one used in cars is a natural and renewable domestic fuel that can only be used for diesel engines. This can be made from vegetable oils mostly [...]
Now days lots of people using alternative fuel because the alternative fuel cheaper than gasoline or diesel. Alternative fuel also environment friendly which can help us save and conserve natural resources that are used in order to produce gasoline and provide efficient and clean fuel combustion. Most common machine using alternative fuel is a car [...]
All fossil fuels are non-renewable, and as such they will eventually be depleted. As they are based on finite resources and their distributions are heavily localized in certain areas of the world, they will become expensive. Further, energy generation from fossil fuels require combustion, thus damaging the environment with pollutants and greenhouse gas emission. In [...]

Abstract
Society’s growing interest in alternative fuels is paving the way for emerging and existing technologies. Compressed natural gas is not a new technology, but it is rapidly growing more popular. The recent drive for green products combined with high oil prices and worries about oil dependence makes natural gas an ideal solution. [...]
