the odometer. Try different positions like up, open, none, and net and every time you go for gas check how many miles you get for every tank of gas.

    is.. this a question..?

Yeah. I heard that to and my milage went uo 10% from 12 to over 13 MPG.This one doesn’t look like it but the tailgate keeps the air in the truck bed which improves streamlining. But it only helps at speeds above 45 mph.

There’s the obvious tire air pressure, clean air filter.

Your driving habit have a lot to do with your over all MPG. If you have a truck, then accelerating fast really cost you mileage because of its weight. And keeping constant speed also improves your MPG.

My Audi has the ability to create log of my gas pedal position and the air sucked in. I once logged and graphed my own mild mannered driving vs. the cruise control. I was shocked to find that my foot was waving up and down and I didn’t even know it. And the no matter how I tried I could not get the engine use a constant and steady flow of air (fuel).

Wasted your effort here. I don’t own a truck and probably never will.

Keep up the public service efforts, though!!

    It’s late and I’m feeling like a smartass . . . but a logical smartass, so . . .
To save gas if you have a truck you could:
push it to work and back,
leave it safely tucked in the driveway and walk, bike, take the bus, carpool . . . saves on gas, maintenance, gets you exercise, helps you meet guys/gals, helps u reduce the beer belly/tummy bulge to make said meeting guys/gals successful, means one less truck on the road,

Trucks are useful at times but really, how many HP does it take to move the average ass down the road??
I have an 80 HP auto when I drive, have gone over snow where trucks just spun their tires, have fit an 8 ft xmas tree in . . . joe blow does not need to push/pull a locomotive at the office everyday and jane blow does not usually drop her truck from a crane on a regular basis to prove her macha!

We are a nation stuck on impressing each other with the size of our toys because we’re insecure about what???
