Does it save gas in the car if you run ...

Tim asked:

I’m trying to figure out what is the best option to save gas in the car.
I’ve heard that driving with the A/C on burns 15% of used gas. But does this apply to just the fan running?

yes, when you condition the air the engine has to run the compressor along with the fan.

The compressor pulls power from the engine thus mileage. It operates during AC and defrost, I use my vent mostly to optimize mileage. The fan dosnt have much bearing on fuel consumption>

Yes, having the compressor running does decrease your gas mileage. I have a 97 Blazer that gets around 21mpg usually, but that drops to at least 18mpg just by running the a/c.

Yes. The fans opporate on battery power, the A/C compressor uses the rotation of the engine for power. Only A/C should affect your gas milage.
