king_kobras213 asked: I, for one, coast whenever possible. Sure it may be illegal, but I don’t care because it saves my ass gas and not many things can go wrong whilst coasting.
I also turn off my car on downhills that are straight. We have some long down hill roads here.

Go speed limit for one
Dont brake to much
Try to not use the AC (kills gas fast)
And Coast if you see a stop sign about 500 feet or so
Coasting should not be illegal, that is absurd.
I save gas by not driving, I only work one mile away so driving would just be a waste. Unless it’s raining, snowing or I need to haul groceries or something, my car just sits in the driveway.
Well when i try to save gas, I:
Try not to stall or go into idling too much
Dont turn on the A/C because that kills gas quick
Dont roll down your windows
Dont drive so fast, and obey the speed limit
And coast
Coasting is a good way to go, you can also feather the accellerator on the flat. Keep the air con off but remember when you switch you car off (especially a newer one) than all you steering and power assisted brakes will go off as well.
I have found that certain performance mods will save you fuel if you use them sparingly eg: fitting a V8 to a car will mean you can simply idle around everywhere instead of reving the guts out of a smaller engine
Consider your car’s power to weight ratio and what you carry all the time in your car. Keeping your golf clubs or heavy toolbox in the boot all the time will not help matters much
Finally, consider switching to a higher grade of fuel for a more efficient combustion process. This will be better for your car too.
turn off things when not in need…
get a manual powered car…
