Honestly, YES it does work. I have done this to my 2004 Scion xb and currently get about 50 (yes, fifty) miles per gallon.

I wrote a review and how to here:

It’s very simple. You don’t change your engine or computer. A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill it with DISTILLED WATER and a little bit of BAKING SODA. The device gets vacuum and electricity (12 Volts) from the engine, and produces HHO gas (Hydrogen+Oxygen). The HHO gas is supplied to the engine’s intake manifold or carburetor as shown below.

As others have said, it *is* a scam.

Also be wary of those who claim that it works for them, they are more often than not a part of the scam.

They usually say something like “it worked for me, I doubled my gas mileage, visit this website for more information…”

and you’ll find that the link they provide is part of a referral scheme that earns them money each time someone clicks on it. Of course they say it works, doing so makes the money!

The reality is that *none* of the explanations of how these systems are supposed to work that are provided by these scammers stand up to scientific scrutiny. I wrote an article on the subject, effectively debunking the claims with some simple math – a link to the article’s three pages is cited below.

Don’t become a dupe – these people are only out to lighten your wallet by telling you lies.

You don’t actually run your car on water. What you do is use a device that uses a little electricity out of your car or truck to separate water into a gas called HHO, which is then supplied to the engines intake manifold or carburetor.

It does work! I know people who have used it and doubled their fuel mileage! Here is an ad that will take you directly to the Water4Gas website so you can read about it yourself.

And, there are devices out there that you can buy and have installed, but they run around $1500! So, this Water4Gas gives you complete detailed instructions on how to install it yourself using everyday hardware, for a lot less money!

It was on our local news the other day, and they interviewed local mechanics who agreed it will work!

i read some where that a person developed an engine that converted water to hydrogen it could have killed the big 3.but the guy sold the plans to one of the companys and they destroyed the plans for that engine.now this may have been b.s. but their are people working on this hydrogen from water thing but it is not avalible to the public just yet

no it cant…that was just a myth, believe me if one could it would be on the market quicker than u could think, be a nice concept but except for steam engines( that takes coal to heat water) i dont think its possible at the moment

You can but you have to make a hydrogen fuel cell. You can make one of these but it won’t be very efficient and you will still probably have to use some gas but it will increase your gas mileage a little bit. The products most people are trying to sell are so inefficient the get little to no hydrogen (from the water). So with the best one you might get 1mpg better but for that little of a gain it’s not worth the risk of messing up your engine.

It can, if you use the definition of water to include Steam. To make the steam however you have to heat up the water, this takes energy. This is why gasdoline engines won out over steam and electric cars a century ago.
